Coming Israel-Arab Crisis

By Elmer & Chris Josephson

Editor’s introduction: Elmer retired to the realm of the righteous dead two years ago, yet I’m continually amazed when I read one of his manuscripts that it is more up to date than tomorrow’s newspaper. He had tremendous insight into our time. This article is largely his with a bit of my editing, and adding!

"So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19).

During times of great national and international tensions and violence when gross injustices are being committed that stir one’s righteous indignation, what are we to do? Have we a moral obligation placed on us? Are we our brother’s keeper? How are we to arrive at the righteous conclusion? Can we be excused by saying, "I am only one voice which is of no consequence"? What is right or wrong? By whom and on what authority is this to be determined?

America lays claim to being a nation founded on Holy Scriptures. Our civilization, including the laws that govern us, have their roots deep in this sacred Book. Then let us read all this Book; both Old and New Testaments, has been given us by the people of Israel (Jacob) and through whom the Messiah was promised and given.

The Apostle Paul writes, "What advantage hath the Jew? Or what profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because unto them were committed the oracles of God" (Romans 3:1,2). The Almighty has never anointed a Gentile by His spirit for direct divine verbal inspiration. He has reserved this only for Jews. "Ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests" (Exo. 19:6). In speaking to Zion the Creator declares, "I have put my words in thy mouth" (Isaiah 51:16), and so fulfilling the promise God made to Abraham, "In thee shall all the families [nations] of the earth be blessed" (Gen. 12:3).

Reason for Land Grant

The preservation of the family of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their ingathering back to the land that was given them as "an everlasting possession" in the year 2126 BC (Gen. 12:7; 15:8; 17:8; Josh. 1:2-4), has been a God-performed miracle. After 2,000 years of being cursed, hounded, driven from nation to nation and too often persecuted by those who bear the name of Him who said, "By this shall ALL MEN know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one for another", they should have found rest and peace in their own land. But this long-sought peace, from the outset to this day, is being threatened. President Nasser of Egypt not only threatened but attacked to destroy Israel on several occasions, and was joined by all Arab nations surrounding the new state. Nor have they been alone in their hatred of the Jewish nation. All kinds of arms and military hardware, planes and tanks has been supplied them by other nations - particularly Russia and even England, France and theUSA! The Almighty Dollar doesn’t only "talk" it hollers and screams.

Water Problems

Early on, the UN agreed to the Water Carrier plan of bringing a relatively small percent of the Sea of Galilee’s water to the desert. We saw Arab Bedouin tribes in the Negev benefiting from this project, yet Arab leaders used it as a propaganda weapon and sought to cut off Israel’s water life line. And now with the great water aquifers of Israel’s heartland going to PLO control, what is Israel to do?

May I [Elmar] boldly state on the grounds of Holy Writ, that the
Almighty will not tolerate any nation’s attack on Israel directly or indirectly. It is clear from even a brief and unbiased study of the prophetic Scriptures that we are living at a very focal point in history, marked by the last and final ingathering of Abraham’s family to their land. The Almighty’s grand purpose is the fulfilling of His Word to Israel in making them a blessing to all the nations of the earth, after a relatively brief Armageddon, as we have stated repeatedly in this publication, culminating in Messiah’s coming and the Kingdom of God on earth (Luke 21:24-33).

It is tragic that the leaders in our State Department are seemingly blind to Biblical and historical facts. Will we never learn that the Eternal means what He says in "I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curseth thee"? Has our State Department leaders forgotten what judgments the Almighty meted out on the Nazi regime which left Germany divided so many years into four segments? Have they not heard of the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusaders, the Hamans, Amalekites and wicked Pharaohs? How dare we turn a deaf ear and make it so hard for Israel to defend her survival rights? Do we Americans think we are invincible? We certainly are not when we run counter to the Creator’s decrees and the oaths of His mouth.

Since the Wye Memorandum, the question concerning water (to say nothing of the status of Jerusalem) is now more strategic than ever. The above graphic depicts the important aquifers under the mountain area (so-called West Bank).

I beg our State Department heads to take another look into the Book that alone is a "lamp to our feet and a light to our path". It is unmistakably clear that we are living at the point in history of which the prophet Zechariah speaks, "The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord which stretcheth forth the heavens and layeth the foundation of the earth and formeth the spirit of man within him.

"Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

"And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people; all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. . .

"In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem...

"In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them" (Zech. 12:1-3,6&8). Read also chapter 14.

God + 1 = Majority

Though America now be so great and Israel yet so small, still let us
remember God has not forgotten His covenant agreement with Israel which is everlasting (Gen. 17:7, 13, 19): she will endure as long as sun, moon and stars shine above. Read Jeremiah 31:35-37; 33:24-26. This has been evident in every age and dispensation. Pharaoh, Amalek, Haman, Hitler all thought to their own shame and destruction that God had repealed His promise to Israel. "He  suffered no man to do them wrong; [and get away with it] Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, saying Touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no harm" (I Chron. 16:21-22; Psalm 105).

The terror attacks are not curbed and Israel’s security is constantly
threatened. Israel wants peace and we believe most Arab people
also want peace, but not only do their leaders threaten war, but the
PLO school curriculum teaches children to hate Israel and the "Jews". We have documentation of this and of official Palestinian Authority TV programs with small children singing the praises of violence, bloodshed and self-destruction, amidst images of Disney characters around the walls of their classrooms!

Count Down Coming

Evidently there will be a show-down on the Israel-Arab situation.
We all are going to have to stand up and be counted. We will either vote with the Almighty and His eternal plans by words and deeds or against Him. God’s predestined program will be carried out to the most minute detail which is to make Israel a blessing to the Arabs and all the nations of the world.

"In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Assyria and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians. In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance"
(Isaiah 19:23-25).

In this prophecy the Almighty declares that Israel shall be a bond
between and tying Egypt and Assyria together by this peacemaking
and peace-loving nation.

In our so-called "authorized" King James version (but who has the
right to say that any translation is "authorized" except the Author
Himself which in this case makes only the original manuscripts really authorized) However, Elmer did believe that the KJV was the best English version we have. in Isaiah 19:24 the Hebrew word "Eretz" is translated "land" but also more correctly it here should be translated "earth" (as found in the direct Hebrew translations such as the Issac Lesser).

And "Israel shall be...a blessing in the midst of the EARTH", fully completing God’s promise to Abraham "In thee shall all families [nations] of the earth be blessed: (Gen. 12:3).
