Something New

By Ed Christiansen edmugsht.jpg (10308 bytes)

As God shakes the Earth, a new thing is born!

"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun; Is there any thing whereof it may be said, ‘See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us," (Eccl 1:9-10).

However, the orderliness of God is overruled by God Himself! "But if the LORD make a new thing and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord," (Numbers 16:30 – Read also Isaiah 48:6, 7).

New Means Strange

God is doing a strange unheard of thing in the earth. Looking to the Word in Ezekiel chapter 20:

v.34, "And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries [not just one country as, Egypt, Assyria or Babylon, but every nation of the world] wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

v. 35, "And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, [the Gentile nations] and there will I plead with you face to face. Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God:"

The Complete Jewish Bible, 1998, reads, verse 37. "I will make you pass under the crook [correcting rod] and bring you into the obligations of the Covenant. [our emphasis] I will rid you of the rebels who are in revolt against me...."

v.40, .... "For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things."

V.41, "I will accept you with your sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you were scattered; and through you I will manifest my holiness in the sight of the nations." (Complete Jewish Bible, 1998)

v.42 "And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

v.44, "And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, not according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God."

The promise of the Almighty is steadfast and sure, no wavering, for He is God. Salvation would come to Israel for it was promised in these verses of Jeremiah.

"And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

"And it shall be to me a name of joy, and praise and an honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it. Again there shall be heard in this place ….even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem ….The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the Lord of hosts: for the Lord is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: ….For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the Lord" (Jeremiah 33:8-11).

This is why we are admonished to "Rejoice, O ye nations with his people: [Israel] for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people" (Deuteronomy 32:43). The enemies of Israel wish to destroy her and "To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land" (Ezekiel 38:12).

This people, Israel, is back in the land and are getting goods which the enemy wishes to take for themselves. The stealing of cars in Israel is a tremendous problem, and this is just one area of the problem.

The blessing of the Lord is seen where ever you go in Israel. The economy is booming and much building is taking place. The land is being reforested so that the land will produce plenty, and even, "...cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit" (Isaiah 27:6). You can buy Israeli fruit in Omaha, Kansas City, Denver, New York, L.A. and many, many more areas.

God is performing His new thing by bringing back a people to their land in order to magnify the NAME OF THE LORD. For the first time in the history of man, a whole nation has come back to their ancestral home, as a nation, "If those ordinances, [Stars, Moon, Sun, Wind, Snow, Rain, Summer, Winter, Fall and Spring] depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever."

"He promises that as long as the natural order lasts, so long will Israel be a nation" (Good News Bible). "If these laws leave my presence," says Adonai, "then the offspring of Israel will stop being a nation in my presence forever" (Complete Jewish Bible). "Only if these laws stop working, declares the Lord, will Israel’s descendants stop being a nation in my presence" (God’s Word translation) – Jer. 31:36. When did the natural order of the heavens stop?

As a Nation (In God’s eyes they have always been a nation, though scattered.) they are coming back to occupy that land, Israel, once again. This has to be the time now for it says "countries," not country. This ingathering is from all the countries of the world where the mighty God has transferred them. His end-time plan is to set up a network of His people that will be able to take the message "Good News" to the whole world when the time is come. All signs point to a soon accomplishment.

Look again at Ezekiel 20, and verse 34; "I will bring you." The Lord is moving fast in His sovereignty for the people of Israel.

"Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that it shall no more be said, ‘The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, the Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them:’ [This includes the Lost tribes which went north and then – where?], and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers" (Jeremiah 16:14-15).

The Lord is doing a transcendent work in the earth today. We don’t have to go back into the pages of history, to Bible times to see God’s hand moving, but right now, in our time and space, God is performing an exceptional feat, A NEW THING.

He’s bringing the Israelites back as He had promised. He is speaking to them "face to face" for the time to favor her is now. (Ezekiel 20:35 & Psalm 102:13)

Can God’s Word be spoken against, bringing it to nought? NEVER; but the eternal Word shall always stand. No matter what we say or do, He will make His Word come true and ours will just be a blowing in the wind.

The day is dawning when we shall all see eye to eye. The Word of the Lord is quick and powerful. God’s love and Word makes brethren out of those who were diametrically against each other. Those who hate must and will come forth in love. A tremendous event is taking place; flow with it.

"Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The beast of the field shall honor me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself: they shall shew forth my praise" (Isaiah 43:19-21).

"...I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy" (Isaiah 65:18b).

"Whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance" (Isaiah 19:25). Everyone in the area has a part with the Almighty to make the region a blessing to all people. So why do some of the people rage and war against the plan of the Almighty? It is His plan to bless all, not destroy. As man fights against the desire of God then His judgment must fall upon those who will not do His will.

In Jeremiah we read, "Thus saith the Lord against all mine evil neighbors, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them. And it shall come to pass after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. And it shall come to pass, if they [any other people] will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD LIVETH: as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people. But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD" Jeremiah 12:14-17.

Let’s look at Hagar when she left to flee from Sarah for she was embittered against Hagar for being with child: "And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands" (Genesis 16:9). Submitting to another is the hardest experience for anyone to do. Yet blessing will come if we do His pleasure. God’s master plan will not be trifled with, for He will do His will no matter what.

God said, to Abraham: "Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shall call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. But my COVENANT will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year" (Genesis 17:19-21).

Chosen For Service

As we read in Isaiah, 41:8-16:

V. 8. "But thou Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

V.9. "Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

V.11. "Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

V.12b. "They that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

V.13. "For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

V.14. "Fear not, thou worm Jacob and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

V.15. "Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

V.16. "Thou shalt fan them and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the Lord, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel."

Enter: Messiah

A New Kingdom is about to break forth, ruled by the Messiah.

"When the LORD shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory" (Psalm 102:16).

The Lord is building up Zion, and is about to bring to preeminence "the seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah," who is the inheritor of the mountains, and God’s Messiah will sit in rule of the nation Israel. The people in turn will dwell where? As He has stated many times in the Scriptures, "in their inheritance."

What do the kings of the earth think about this bold move on God’s part? They take council against Him and try to overthrow him, at which time God has a good laugh at this futile attempt. Can’t you just imagine a roaring laughter that brings a shaking? Even now He does so, for the earth is shaking, at the events coming to pass. Yet God’s anointed one shall sit as King on the holy hill of Zion. Don’t take my word for it read, Psalm 2.

Isaiah 41:27, "…and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings." The passage found in Isaiah 61 tells about the exploits that this One will do for the Lord. This nation, Israel, shall receive: beauty, oil, garment of praise, and be called, trees of righteousness for they shall, build the old wastes, repair the waste cities, and be named the Priests of the Lord. For their shame, they shall receive double blessing; for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion, and in their land, they shall possess a double portion. Everlasting Joy shall be unto them. And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles as the seed which the Lord hath blessed. The Messiah shall bring order out of disorder, peace out of war, justice out of injustice, and righteousness shall prevail in the earth, for evil shall be extinguished.

The enemy of Israel shall not fair so well, but the wrath of the Lord will be against him.

"Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina ... Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved" (Isaiah 14:29 & 31).

Confusion is in the ranks because the desire of the Lord is not being recognized, and fulfilled today.

"What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it" (Isaiah 14:32).

"Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first" (Jeremiah 33:6-7).

God is transcending all things and is doing a new thing in the earth. Are we ready to obey His Word, or do we still want our own way? The answer lies within us: will we give our will over to His and be a part of what He is doing? See page 23, Praying Believers Perform Results.

"Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am He" (Isaiah 41:4)

The last word, is GOD’S. -
