The Why of This Publication
“Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock”(Jeremiah 31:10).
Bible Light On the News was borne 7 years ago as the result of our reactions to the handshake (initiated by Pres. Bill Clinton) on the White House lawn between Arafat and Prime Minister Rabin. Having lived in those mountains and seen first-hand the terror and turmoil caused by the PLO which Arafat headed, together with the realization that Israel (under the pressure of our president and State Department) was actually negotiating the giving away of land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’s descendants by the Covenant-Keeping God of Israel ¾ we had to cry, “Foul”.
This publication, coming from the Heartland of the U.S.A. to, and on behalf of, the Heartland of Israel, is going into its 8th year. EIGHT is the number of new beginnings. The outlook is brighter today in view of current events in Israel than during many times in the past 7 years. Brighter? Yes, because we see the Sovereign Hand of God working in hearts and lives, bringing understanding to thinking people who can still reason in this crazy world. We therefore continue to dedicate this publication to encouraging our readers to faith in the everlasting promises of God and insight into their fulfillment in our day. We appreciate your comments, whether pro or con, and above all we are grateful to the few whose hearts are touched to help in prayer and financial gifts to accomplish the calling the Lord has put upon us.
As we go to press, an e-mail from Ma’ale Michmas assured us they were carrying on business as usual and that they thought that in many ways it was easier to be there than to be elsewhere watching the news! How can we help but help such brave people who are called “settlers” only because they make their homes in the heartland of the land promised to them? You can help through Bible Light, through the Yesha Organization and others we can recommend. At this writing we are planning to take a small, but strong-in-faith, tour group to Israel and will visit Ma’ale Michmas and other cities in Judea and Samaria, according to the Will of God.
$15.00 to the almond orchard in memory of, or in honor of, a loved one or friend will also bring a beautiful certificate, suitable for framing, to the one you wish it to have it. -
