The Glory Formula
LOVE + LIGHT = GLORY
“The GLORY of the LORD shall be
revealed and all flesh shall see it together
[comes with the best guarantee]: for the
mouth of the LORD has spoken it” (Isaiah 40:5).
The first definition of “formula” in
Webster’s Exhaustive Dictionary is: A fixed form of words, especially one
that has lost its original meaning or force and is now used only as a
conventional or ceremonial expression.
We Christians are quite accustomed to the
word, glory, but who actually knows what it is? We sing, ‘Heaven came down
and glory filled my soul’, but who stops singing and shouting long enough to
think what “glory” really means? We’re too busy enjoying the spiritual high.
What is the formula for glory? Of what does
it consist? Since He is going to cover the earth with the knowledge of it,
shouldn’t we learn what that knowledge is? And for what purpose? How can
these questions be answered?
Well, of course, the answers are found in
the Word of the LORD of Glory. The word glory is found many times in our
English translation of the Bible, and its awesomeness is so overwhelming it
became very difficult to finish an article about it. There is so much
information we decided to put some of the Scriptures in the outer margins of
the pages – but also then, of course, they couldn’t be contained.
The What of Glory
Let’s consider the glory formula to be:
Love + LIGHT = Glory. The main component of His Glory is who He Himself
is. The Bible says, “God is Love” (I John 4:8 & 16 – and other
passages teach this though not spelled out in those words.) So the
basic ingredient of glory is the LOVE of the LORD. The Bible is God’s love
story to mankind. The subject of “love” would fill many pages, so let’s
concentrate on the “Light” portion of the formula. Light is knowledge and
knowledge is associated with glory in many passages.
The Scripture Habakkuk 2:14 (on the cover of
this publication) is almost identical to Isaiah 11:9, “…for the earth
will be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea,”
yet it is often misquoted as, “Glory shall cover the earth as the waters
cover the sea.” But in both places, KNOWLEDGE is prominant. Should we not
then begin to learn what that knowledge is?
Because He loves, He shines His light – His
great knowledge and wisdom – all through the pages of His Book. Each
one of us in our own particular world can absorb His Love & Light and
thereby know Him and His glory. This is the glorious relationship of
salvation. “A light to lighten the nations and the glory of thy people
Israel” (Luke 2:32).
The Prophet Ezekiel saw His glory: “And
behold, the glory of the God of Israel came down from the way of the east;
and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth
shined with his glory” (Ezekiel 43:2).
The glory of the LORD will make all the
earth to shine? How’s that again? If there is a “shine”, there has to be a
light. What is that Light?
Psalm 29:3 gives a clue, “The voice of
the LORD is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders: the LORD is
[singing – Heb.] upon many waters.” Voice is in this Psalm 7 times.
His voice and His light go together, and since the entrance of His Word
gives LIGHT (Psalm 119:130), we see that His Word IS light, a vital
component of glory.
Light is a marvelous thing. Light is the
first of God’s creation. Nothing can live without it. Light is in control!
When light is strong and shines well in a room, it reveals every object in
that room – where it is located and how it relates to other objects in the
room. There is no need to stumble over whatever is in the room if light is
there to reveal to you the way you can operate in that area. It simply lets
you know the way to go.
So we see that the light – the knowledge of
God’s Word – is associated closely with glory, for light is knowledge of
The Light of Redemption began with the
Everlasting Abrahamic Covenant in Genesis. The Apostle Paul said the Gospel
was preached to Abraham (Gal. 3:8). Within the Abrahamic Covenant is the
Land Covenant. The LORD needed a base (and still does), a place to reveal
and declare His “Glory” to all nations.
“I will place salvation in Zion for
Israel my Glory” (Isaiah 46:13,).
(Zion and Jerusalem are synonymous.) “Out of Zion, the perfection of
beauty, God hath shined” (Psalm 50:2). “Therefore, thus saith the
Lord GOD, Behold I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a
precious corner stone, a sure foundation” (Isaiah 28:16, quoted in 1
“The Lord also shall roar out of Zion,
and utter His voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall
shake; but the Lord will be the hope of His people, and the strength of the
children of Israel” (Joel 3:16).
“For Zion’s sake will I not hold my
peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest until the righteousness
thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that
burns” (Isaiah 62:1).
“When the LORD shall build up Zion, he
shall appear in His glory”
(Psalm 102:16). Zion is being
built up right now, today! I remember when the land around Jerusalem was
totally desolate, now it is filled with houses for the ingathering of Judah!
The “mountains round about Jerusalem” (representative of the LORD
being round about His people – Psalm 125:2) are gloriously shimmering with
light from dwellings cascading down from mountain heights.
Through the ages the Lord God has given
light. It is growing and will burst out to all nations. But now, almost all
nations are coming against Jerusalem, the very place where that light began
and is returning for the very purpose to bless all nations.
Isaiah 66:18&19 is only one of the many
Scriptures that tell of all nations coming against Israel. This is
illustrated now in the United Nations. When the U.N. was newly formed, they
voted against having a room where the members could pray and seek the LORD.
Their ignorance of Him is exposed in the hatred of Israel that spews
constantly from the United Nations’ chambers. Its failure is evident – and
predicted in Genesis 12:3, “I will curse him that curses thee.” Why
does our USA (who picks up the greatest amount of the tab) stand for this?
We need to kick it off our shores, and be on the positive side of the
promise, “I will bless them that bless thee.” The true U.N. will be
in Jerusalem. (Zechariah 8:22 & 23)
No one can be in neutral about Jerusalem.
Israel and Jerusalem are either viciously hated or compassionately loved.
Loved, that is, by those who love this knowledge of the LORD’s Kingdom, and
hated by those who follow after the vast and prominent selfish materialism
of mankind. The glory light of love is hated because it unmasks dark deeds:
‘Men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil’
(John 3:19). But the all-seeing eye of the Almighty pierces the darkness
And the growing darkness brought on by man’s
selfish deeds intensifies the confusion. It’s dark now and it’s going to be
dark midnight before the inhabitants of the earth wake up to the knowledge
of the Love and Light of the LORD that equals the Glory of the Lord – when
He shakes the earth with it!
“And they shall go into the holes of the
rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the
glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake terribly the earth”
(Isaiah 2:19 – the 21st verse is almost identical), “And I
will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will
fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts” (Haggai 2:7).
The Why of Glory
One big reason for glory is that it unifies.
It will “cover” the earth – bring together. Jesus taught this clearly in his
prayer in John 17, “That the glory which You gave me I have given them
[His followers]; that they may be one, even as we are one.” Then
He gives the reason for this, “that the world may believe.”
Also the LORD’s Love and Light bring health
and right living: “Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and
your health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go
before you, the glory of the LORD shall be your rereward” - rear guard
So it is in our lives. The LOVE LIGHT of our
Creator shines through His Word and tells us how to live a successful
life-style. – But that calls for a definition of success. Success is
learning how to live. Success is learning how to move forward. Success is
knowledge how to rise in consciousness. The learning vehicle for this is the
LORD’s Love-Light that shines on our way and culminates in glory. Let’s say
Love + Light = Glory.
My use of words is clumsy, but His hits the
spot, produces fruit and does not return void to Him. Isaiah 55:10 & 11,
“For as the rain comes down and the snow from heaven, and returns not
thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may
give seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So shall My Word be that goes
forth out of my mouth; it shall not return void, but it shall accomplish
that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto
I sent it.”
Twice in the Bible He says it comes from
Jerusalem, “For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah [The LORD’s
love-laws for living] and the Word of the LORD from Jerusalem”
(Isaiah 2:3 & Micah 4:2). And from Jerusalem it spreads everywhere. “…Let
the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and amen”
THAT is why Jerusalem is hated. AND that is
why Jerusalem is loved. The Prophet Zechariah gives an awesome warning to
the former: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all
the people round about, when they shall be in siege both against Judah
[the Jewish nation they want to annihilate] and against Jerusalem
[the eternal capital of Torah]. And in that day will I make Jerusalem
a burdensome stone for all people: [i.e.] all that burden
themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the
earth be gathered together against it” (Zech. 12:2 & 3). No one who does
evil against the home base of redemption will be exempted from the
destruction he brings upon himself – and the people of his constituents. Let
Bible-believers in our country do all we can to stop this hatred.
Personally to you:
Right now, you may be in a storm of your life and feel you are at sea. The
Word of the Redeemer is, “Peace, be still …Be still and know….You will
hear a word behind you saying, This is the way…” (Mark 4:35;
Psalm 46:10; Isaiah 30:21).
Let’s look at the cover’s verse again. It
says, “The glory of the knowledge of the LORD shall cover the earth as
the waters cover the sea.” If you were in the sea, you couldn’t get away
from the water. So if you are walking with the LORD in His Love and learning
His knowledge, you can’t get away from the glory. Think on that!
Glory Road in the Wilderness
There IS a highway (both physical and
spiritual) opening before us if we will listen to, “The voice of him that
crieth in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the LORD, make straight in
the desert a highway for our God… And the glory of the LORD shall be
revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has
spoken it” (Isaiah 40:3-5). He is talking about a straight path in
the desert and the glory of the LORD being revealed at
that time and adds that it will be known world-wide. The clincher is He said
so, “For the Word of our God shall stand forever.” Is that enough
Here is the practical opportunity for YOU to
be part of that voice crying in the wilderness, and make preparations for
the LORD’s glory to shine. We’re talking now about the project, Biblical
Tamar Park, for which we have been working several years. You think I’m
exaggerating? Read on.
Biblical Tamar Park surrounds the ancient
ruins of the ancient Biblical city of Tamar. Chief archaeologist, Dr. Yigal
Israel states that “Tamar is the jewel of the Arava” and it is well known
that the tel dates from the time of Abraham and is mentioned in Genesis
14:7. Before Abraham, it was an Amorite city and archaeologists hope someday
to dig to that ancient stratum.
Alan Vanderkolk writes that while on a hike
into the desert from Tamar, he came upon a spring-fed watering hole that is
still used by local Bedouin to water their flocks. Tamar is where Moses and
the children of Israel discovered artesian wells and sang, “Spring up, O
Bible Light has been invited to partner with
the Israel-appointed curator of Biblical Tamar Park, Dr. DeWayne Coxon of
Cedar Springs, Michigan. You, friends and readers of the Bible Light on
the News and of our website have given to plant palm trees along the
entrance to this amazing place, and now we are working to establish a
library and learning center in memory of my late husband, Elmer Josephson,
and Dr. David Flusser who was the head of the Department of Religion at the
Hebrew University. (He and Elmer became friends and were early examples of
the two houses studying the Word of the LORD together.)

You can experience firsthand this
restoration in the desert by joining Dr. Coxon (www.BlossomingRose.org)
on one of his many tours there. He will also give you an over-all trip of
the Land of the Bible – and at the most reasonable price you can find
anywhere. A definite plus is that you can actually do a little restoring
with your own hands if you wish. Your Bible will never be the same as you
walk where Abraham and Jesus lived and taught.
As with any worthwhile endeavor, there are
financial needs where you can help. No gift is too small – and none too
large! Recent news from DeWayne Coxon is that we are entering phase 2 of the
project which means the plans for the museum will be solidified and we can
proceed with surety. His policy is not to go in debt, so progress is made as
You can contact Dr. Coxon at 1-800-317-7673,
or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on giving and tour
schedules. If you wish to contribute through Bible Light for the Library and
Learning Center, you can designate it in honor of, or in living memory of, a

What the Glory is NOT.
“He that speaks of himself seeks his own glory: but he that seeks his
glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him”
“… for men to search their own glory is not glory” (Proverbs 25:27)
“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither
let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his
riches: But let him that glories, glory in this, that he understands and
knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises loving kindness, judgment, and
righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD”
(Jeremiah 9:23 & 24. If we walk with the LORD in His Light, we will also
reflect these virtues).
“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in
our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in
the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Cor. 4:6). That’s Love and Knowledge -for
Where, When, Why & Who?
“So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all kings of the
earth thy glory WHEN the LORD shall build of Zion He shall appear in His
glory” (Psalm 102:15 & 16).
“And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and
upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming
fire by night, for upon all the glory shall be a defense.” (Isaiah 4:5,
The Hebrew meaning, from my understanding, is a canopy of glory for
protection – another act of His Love.)
“Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most
precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And kings bring their
glory into it., And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to
shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light
thereof” (Rev. 21:11 & 23).
“Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvelous works among all
nations” (I Chronicles 16:24).
“For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come that I will
gather all nations and tongues: and they shall come and see my glory… and I
will send those that escape of them unto the nations… that have not heard my
fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the
Gentiles” (Isaiah 66:18&19).
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen
upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross
darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall
be seen upon thee” (Isaiah 60:1 & 2),
“The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall
the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an
everlasting light, and thy God thy glory” (Isaiah 60:19).
“Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before
your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he
turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness” (Jeremiah
“O House of Jacob, come you and let us walk in the light of the LORD”
“And the wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and
the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom
abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing; the glory of Lebanon
shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see
the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God” (Isaiah 35:1&2).
“Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the
victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is
thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all”
(I Chronicles 29:11).
“The King of Glory shall come in” (Psalm 24)
“…For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen”
