TERROR BOMBERS CARRIED HEPATITIS B VIRUS: The two Palestinian suicide bombers who carried out terror attacks in Tel Aviv and Netanya were both infected with highly-contagious Hepatitis B, according to a report this morning on Army Radio. Evidence of the disease was first diagnosed in a sliver of bone fragment recovered from a terror victim in the Netanya shopping mall attack, the report said. Results of testing later showed that both bombers had the disease. Authorities said a number of Netanya casualties are under treatment after having contracted the disease. The Israelis were infected after being hit by flesh and body parts of the Palestinian suicide bombers. No Tel Aviv attack casualties have been located who were struck by infected tissue. (The Jerusalem Post, June 7, 2001)

PRAYER FOCUS: Rumors are flying concerning the possible use of biological warfare in terror attacks. We do not know if it is a coincidence that both bombers have Hepatitis B or not. However, we do feel that it is important to continue to pray against the attacks of the evil one who would like to destroy the nation and people of Israel. We urge you to pray that God Almighty will guard over His people and keep them safe from all attacks.

SCRIPTURE:  “I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. ‘Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart” (Psalm 91:2-4)

ISRAELI BABY SERIOUSLY WOUNDED IN WEST BANK STONING: The Israeli baby was seriously wounded Tuesday night (June 5th) when Palestinians stoned the car the baby and his family were traveling in. The family was traveling to the settlement of Ma’aleh Levonah, near the West Bank city of Ramallah.  (As of this writing the baby died, emphasis ours.)
Earlier in the day, a man was lightly wounded by stone-throwers on the Hussein bypass road near Bethlehem.
(By Aluf Benin, Har’aretz, June 5, 2001)  Note from IMRA: The U.S. State Department has declined to take a position as to whether  stone throwing is “violence.” The Mitchell Report does not address rock throwing as violence.  If we started throwing rocks here in the U.S., we would most certainly be charged with “violence.” Why not there? Think about this.

AN ISRAELI ARAB JOURNALIST DISAPPEARS: An Israeli Arab Journalist who disappeared two months ago during a visit to Bethlehem escaped from his Palestinian captors and managed to reach an IDF (Israel Defense Force) checkpost at the entrance to Jerusalem just before midnight on Wednesday, June 6, 2001.
Exhausted and broken, Joussef Samir, 63, said that when he approached the soldiers, after making his way through the darkened alleyways of Bethlehem, he knelt down and kissed the earth.
“It was as if I was born all over again, and was given my life anew after 64 days when I never saw the light of day,” he said tearfully in an interview. “I was given a mattress in one room of an office in the civil administration headquarters, where I was repeatedly beaten, humiliated, and terrorized.” Every day an interrogator would demand that Samir own up to being an Israeli agent, which he wasn’t. He said, “You all know that I’m a poet, an author, never a spy, never.” “When I saw the Israeli soldiers, I nearly fainted from happiness,” he recalled, as they called for their commanders to come to the checkpost. Jeep after Jeep rushed to the checkpost, medics, soldiers rushing up to the ailing captive.
“It was a surrealistic scene, one that I will never forget all my life,” Samir recalled. “I saw a country that cared about its citizens, something that would not happen to such an extent even in Western cultures like the US.”
Has the experience changed him, the reporter asked, “A lot has changed in my outlook,” he said.

PALESTINIAN  PLANS: Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch  noted the significance of the attack on new Russian immigration to Israel. He said, “The Arabs have a demographic plan to, within a few decades outnumber the Jewish population, based on simple calculations of their much higher birth rate than the Jews.” With the immigration from other countries, called ALIYAH, this will mess up their plans greatly, so they are targeting the immigrants in their terror attacks. “We must target those that will cause them death and fear… that will lose them sleep and give them all sorts of torture,” to stop them from coming. Marcus concluded that the recent attack shows that the Palestinians were quite serious in their threats.  This attack was on  Russian immigrants.

Wait a minute, what does God say on this matter?
“I will bring them from the land of the north and gather them from the ends of the earth… a great throng will return” (Jeremiah 31:8).

BIOARTIFICIAL LIVER DEVELOPED AT HEBREW UNIVERSITY: A living bioartificial liver situated outside the body has been developed by research team headed by Prof. Eduardo Mitrani of the Hebrew University’s Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences. The liver device, called ALIVE, has already been tested successfully and ready for testing on humans. Three companies in US and Israel have already begun to develop products.

The micro-organ technology has many other applications. Under development is a bioartificial kidney, which would function like the liver device.

JERUSALEM CENTER for Biblical Studies & Research:

LOTS OF WATER IN THE WRONG PLACE - Unseasonal heavy rains flooded central Israel and in particular the cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Unfortunately the Sea of Galilee gained less than an inch. This being the nation’s main reservoir, the crisis continues with the lake nearly 20 feet below the optimum level to provide for  the nation’s needs. The rains were so heavy that people had to be evacuated from their homes in some areas and in Jerusalem one house collapsed as the weight of the water that accumulated on the roof could not be supported. Nearly two feet of water fell in one five-hour period.
The rains did little to alleviate the nation’s water problems. The government was quick to warn the people that this did not change the situation and that water reduction measures were still in force. The Agriculture Ministry has ordered a ban on all fishing at the northern end of the Sea of Galilee, to protect the breeding grounds of the St. Peter fish.
A privately funded project will be able to pump 30 million cubic meters of water over the next 18 months from a well that will be drilled two to three thousand feet underground.

WHO IS THE JOKER? This may be a first…Palestinian officials defended (maybe not the right word) Israel’s Mossad, the nation’s intelligence agency that was accused of circulating “unflattering jokes about Yasir Arafat.” The report appeared in a Saudi Arabian daily paper. One senior Palestinian security officer said, “The report is a joke by itself. There are hundreds of political jokes circulating in the Palestinian street about Arafat…these jokes are born out of the political situation and are invented by people, not the Mossad.”

BIBLE CONTEST SURPRISE: The 38th Annual International Bible Contest for high school students brought 61 participants from 13 countries, and on the last day, Independence Day, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon gave them a quote to think about. He said, “Whoever knows the Bible doesn’t need a tour guide to take them around the Land of Israel.” Then came the surprise, “I told this to the Pope two years ago, and I mentioned that places here in Israel have retained their names from Biblical days such as Jerusalem, Hebron, Jordan, Beit El, Shilo, Rachel’s Tomb and others. The Pope responded by adding to the list with Gilboa and Tabor. Then he said something that would be good for all of us to remember: ‘This land is holy to the three religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, but the Land is promised only to the Jews.’”

Shai Hasan, this years winner, is seventeen from Elyakim, in northern Israel. She suffers from cerebral palsy but scored 99 out of  100 points. She said, “I have been dreaming of winning the contest ever since I was in second grade.”

Hebrew University - According to the University, Israel’s 5.2 million Jews comprise 38% of the world’s Jewish population, Ha’aretz reported. Israel has 6.2 million residents, eight times more than when it was established in May 1948. Last year the population grew by 152,000. Every day 360 new babies were born and 150 new immigrants arrived.

Tourism: Israel tourism continues to drop. Foreign tourists registered 62% fewer bed nights according to the Central Bureau of Statistics. Jerusalem had 71% less. Israel needs more tourists, pray for this to happen.

Rewards: Many people are surprised to learn that the U.S. State Department maintains a website, , that lists the names of Americans killed overseas in terrorist attacks and offers rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of terrorists in these cases. Although the rewards have been given over 13 years, for the capture of terrorists involved in deaths of Americans in Pakistan & Africa, none are posted for American kids killed in Israel.Americans of all religions and nationalities should take the State Department’s inactivity in the face of Palestinian terrorism very seriously. Today it might be a death in Israel, tomorrow it might be another death in Pakistan, the Philippines, or wherever, they are all Americans. There must not be a double standard when it comes to terrorism. The United States cannot stand by silently as its citizens are murdered in any country of the world. Break the silence.

ISRAEL BONDS: At the New York Hilton, in a Bond Dinner the Prime Minister  had said. “Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, the holiest site of Judaism, belong to all the Jewish people. You are obliged to stand and raise your voices.” The Scripture itself says, “For the sake of Jerusalem, I will not be still.” (Isaiah 62:1) How can we disregard the admonition of the Lord, to speak out, when this site is so desecrated. Let us stand for right together.

THE PROPAGANDA BATTLES: ‘New rules’ for Mideast Reporting.
Here are some of the new rules for reporting the news in the Mideast. According to their “stylebook” these are:
Rule 1. Sensationalize the Intensity and scope of Israeli military actions.  Call the Israeli actions “aggressive,” “devastating” or “intensive.” [CNN, April 16] Refer to Israeli incursions into Palestinian territory as “deep”, when it involved just 300 yards.
Rule 2. Whitewash Palestinian Acts Of Violence. [Associated Press, BBC; CNN, The Guardian, March 27] Bombs planted in the middle of Israeli marketplaces are not classified as “terrorism.”
Rule 3. Blame it on the Settlements.  Mitigate Palestinian aggression and attacks by labeling Israeli victims as “settlers” and the locations of the attacks as “settlements,” like Gilo and French Hill, even though they have been part of Jerusalem for 30 years. Label Israeli residents in areas of Jerusalem, “The West Bank, and Gaza, as some new non-civilian entity. [The New York Times March 10}
Rule 4. Deprecate Israeli Leaders; Sympathize With Arafat.  Refer to Ariel Sharon as “hard-line,” “war criminal,” or “The Bulldozer.” Solicit sympathy by referring to Arafat’s old age or as “Parkinson’s-haunted” [UK April 17].
Rule 5. Blame Israel For All Palestinian Casualties. Blame Israel, whether for “work accidents” in Palestinian bomb factories, demonstrators hit by Palestinian snipers aiming at Israeli soldiers or Arabs injured in Israel crowds during a suicide bombing. Auto accidents are to be blamed on Israel - but pathologists report many dead are the cause of beatings not accidents.
Rule 6. Active And Passive Verb Usage.  When possible, juxtapose two deaths, blaming the Israelis for one death, and leaving the Palestinian blame unstated. Example, “During clashes near the West Bank village of Dura, an 11-year-old Palestinian boy was ”shot dead" by Israeli troops. One report said the had been watching Israeli soldiers and Palestinian gunmen exchange fire when he was hit in the chest. [BBC March 27].
Rule 7. Offset An Israeli Death By Mentioning Some Unrelated Palestinian Death. In reporting on the shocking discovery of two butchered Israeli teens near Tekoa, the CNN article entitled “Two Israeli Teenagers Found Dead” carried a photo underneath the headline of a Palestinian baby shot and buried earlier in the week [May 9].  [May 1] CNN reported: “An Israeli was killed and another injured in shooting attacks on West Bank roads Tuesday. The attacks followed explosions and clashes in Gaza and the West Bank which claimed seven Palestinian lives.” This was reported even though the fatal explosions in Gaza were a ‘work accident’ in a Palestinian bomb factory.
Rule 8. Invoke Arabic Terms For Holy Sites. Avoid calling the Temple Mount as “Judaism’s holiest site,” or “as the Jewish capital for 3,000 years.” These should be called “mere claims” “which Israel claims to have been the site of the First and Second Temples.” [New York Times]  When necessary, drudge up obscure Arabic terms, such as referring to Jaffa Gate, the main western entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City, as “Bab al-Khalil.” [CNN January 8, 2001].
What will this stylebook look like in another six months? It depends on the outcome of this Media battle. When are we going to get just the truth? Our so called “truth” is nothing but Satanic “lies” against God’s Land. (Ezek. 36:5 and Joel 3:2) Please read these two verses for an update to this crises.
“For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous” (Psalm 125:3).
“Let all those who hate Zion be put to shame and turned back. Let them be as the grass on the house tops which withers before it grows up, with which the reaper does not fill his hand, nor he who finds sheaves, his arms” (Psalm 129:5-7).
“You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favor her, yes the set time has come. When the Lord shall build up Zion; He shall appear in His glory. To declare the name of the Lord in Zion and His praise in Jerusalem” (Psalm 102:13,16,21).

ISRAEL, YUGOSLAVIA, SIGN DEAL: Israel and Yugoslavia have signed on a commercial airline deal, the first since 1967. The agreement was signed in Belgrade between Transportation minister Ephraim Sneh and his Yugoslav counterpart. The deal calls for two regular weekly flights between Israel and Belgrade, with a gradual increase in the number of flights over the months ahead.

BE SURE YOUR SINS WILL FIND YOU OUT: German Court sentences former Nazi SS guard of beating to death a Jewish inmate during World War II and sentenced him to life in prison. Anton Malloth was a guard at the Theresienstadt fortress in Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, also was found guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of another prisoner who hid a cauliflower under his jacket during forced harvest work in 1943. “He tortured, humiliated and killed people because he considered them subhumans who had no right to live,” Presiding Judge Juergen Hanreich said in his verdict.
